Cameroon Dyslexia Association

The Cameroon Dyslexia Association (CADYAS) is a non-profit organization with an aim of assisting in the development of the educational potential of the under privileged and disability children and youths. We were founded in 2021 by Petronila Ngeka and is directed by John Asang.

We want our organisation to be inspiring to those both affected by and not affected by Dyslexia. We want to identify the needs of vulnerable youths and children especially those in the rural communities, the disadvantage and the weaker section of the society through participatory approaches.

Where are we?

Located in New Bonaberi Douala, CADYAS Head Office shall be in Yaoundé, the Central Region and it shall operate branches in other Regions. The organization’s Head office may however, be relocated to any other region of the country for lowing General Assembly resolution.

The Unrealised gift!

Our company aims to spread the message that Dyslexia is not a “bad” thing! It’s just a different way of learning, and with the right educational support, students can adapt and thrive with dyslexia.
It does not mean that you are not “clever” or cannot be successful. Some of the most brilliant and creative people in human history were and are dyslexic, such as Albert Einstein, Oprah Winfrey, Richard Branson and Will Smith.
Being dyslexic is an unrealised gift, because it helps people be more creative and see the world differently, enabling them to be successful with adaptive learning methods.
Part of our mission in doing this work is to remove the stigma of dyslexia. Being dyslexic should not be viewed as any sort of personal failure or inferiority; it is merely a different way of how the complex, beautiful human mind works. With the right support in place, such as a few adjustments to the school or work environment, people with dyslexia can prosper in life just like everyone else.
